In reference to Joel's question about food, I'll let riders know now that we will have Gu (individual packets) and Sustained Energy (powder to mix in bottles) available at the GRR Controls, along with a menu of 'real' food. I put in an order based on about 100 riders (i.e., 1000 packets of Gu), and may buy more if we get over 100 riders.
We are currently putting a real food list together for each control. If any potential riders have a suggestion of the kind of food, hot or cold, that you would like to see at a control deep into the event (200+ to 750 miles), let us know on this website.

Question to veterans of 2001 GRR:
Based on the distance between controls and towns and based on the food
available at the controls, what advice can you offer "average" 1200K riders
(like me) as to what kinds of food and how much to carry when starting the
GRR, what to grab and carry at controls and what to supplement with extra
supplies through drop bags?
I have usually relied heavily on powdered drink mix but would like to try
carrying less of this and more real food. I hate energy bars!!
Thanks
