[GRRiders] sleeping bags

We offered to take sleeping bags to Adin in 2001, but few took advantage of this on the first GRR. I guess we did not highlight the fact we can send sleeping bags up to Adin this time around because of this. But if you bring one, we'll take it there. Send thin sleeping bags, I don't think our record heat wave is going to let up. Better yet, try and pack a blanket in your bag. These we may run short of first.

The Oroville control has almost unlimited space in air-conditioned rooms for sleeping. This would be the best, by far, for sleeping arrangements. Alturas and Tobin have motel/cabin rooms, but these are limited. May want to 'rent' your own room there, if filled. Taylorsville, Susanville and Adin have cots. But some found them uncomfortable and slept on the floor. As stated in the rider packets, these are all first come, first serve, though floor space is almost unlimited. However, nobody is turned away for sleeping and we will find some place for all.

Can we send properly packed and labeled sleeping bags to the controls
with drop bag service in addition to the 12x24 duffel?

The rider packet suggests putting a sleeping bag inside the duffel but
clearly there won't be much room for anything else by the time you get a
sleeping bag inside a 12x24 duffel.

My concern is that the GRR does not seem to guarantee sleeping
accommodations. If I understand correctly, there may be cots/mats, there
may be blankets, or there may not be. In those circumstances, I prefer
to pack what I need rather than take my chances.

On the other hand if you guys can guarantee mats and blankets, then this
issue is moot.

Thanks
-Tom
