[GRRiders] Davis Creek Store

Hi Peter--
Great to hear from one of the past GRR finishers. The hard-working folks
running the Davis Creek control were Dean & Sandy Goodfellow. I understand
they've re-upped for another tour of duty this summer. :-)

Man, those dammed dogs gave us fits for a couple of hours when you went
through on Wednesday morning-- they were on an Indian reservation and the
local county sheriff couldn't/wouldn't help us out too much due to
reservation jurisdictions issues. After they went home, he suggested I just
shoot them if they caused any further problems-- but I had foolishly left my
guns at home during the randonnee. ;-)
Seriously, no one got bit in 2001, only scared.

Anyhoo, I've got this crazy idea that this year I'd like to try to be a
rider and so might be on the other end of their hospitality-- the
Goodfellows, not the dogs. But if the qualifiers don't go according to plan,
I'll be out there helping somewhere along the route too. Despite the hours
of work, it was a lot of fun overall. Plus, I got to travel to a neat part
of the state for some scenic travel.
