This might not be news for the GRR organizers, but I
got word from a friend and fellow prospective GRR
participant about the Davis Creek Store near the
turnaround.

Always nice to have lots of support on brevets, and it
sounds like these folk -- friends of Sydney's -- are
happy to help us on the ride.

Hi Sterling
Forgot to mention that the Davis Creek store (on the
Gold Rush Randonee route, on Hwy 395 near Goose Lake)
has new proprietors...Erika Forrest and her boyfriend
John.  Erika (Neneeka) used to work here at the Modoc
NF, and
her mom Margaret still does.  They are just starting
out with the store and a small deli.  The store has
always been a hub for the local community, but there's
now a newer recreational crowd; Sugar Hill (nearby) is
a summer hang gliding destination, and there are lots
more RVs on the road these
days.  When I heard they bought the store, I printed
off the Gold Rush ride information so I imagine
they'll plan on being open and prepared, at least I
hope so.
