In response to Joel's response to Tim...
I have received a number of entries that are incomplete, and are technically not qualified or entered into the GRR yet. They are incomplete because their qualifying brevets are not finished. The status of these entries are shown on the DBC website page of potential participants that designated yes, no, or maybe for rinding the GRR. This list also shows that only two individuals, as of today, have qualified for the GRR, with an entire brevet series finished.
With around 200 people indicating a "yes' for riding the GRR, and knowing that considerably fewer of these individuals will actually sign up (based on past experience), we anticipate that everyone that wants to ride the GRR WILL get in. I'm fairly confident we will not reach the cut-off of 175 riders, and if we do, probably raise the limit slightly. The reason we limited the event to 175 is because some of our controls, such as Tobin, may not have the ability to handle many riders at any one time. We want to make sure all participants have an enjoyable experience and not feel crowded at the controls.
We may also run into problems with local enforcement in certain counties if we bump the event above 200 people, requiring a parade permit and 'escorts' by police vehicles. We are just trying to break even in running the Gold Rush, and having the police involved is very expensive, negating our ability to put on the ride.
For those that have sent in incomplete entries, I'll need updates to know that they have completed their brevet series and put them into the 'qualified' category. I'll be sending individual messages to make sure I catch everyone.
Again, I want to thank everyone for their interest in riding the Gold Rush Randonnee. Our entire crew is looking forward to supporting all these fine riders in their quest to complete a 1200 kilometer brevet.

Wow Tim, how could you have paid for the GRR already? They won't even
accept registrations yet -- and how could you have done all the Brevets?
We've all gone through missed rides, etc. I was signed up for the 200K and
300K in Davis but couldn't make either because of last minute family
commitments. Luckily I had already done both Brevet distances in San
Francisco earlier.
It should be fun to see people we know from other rides (PBP, Brevet
series, etc) on GRR but with only 175 people and 1200K of riding there will
be stretches of riding alone unless we/you can miraculously link up with
something that goes exactly the same pace on flats, downhill and uphill.
